Day 40, east of Milton to Chipley, Florida

This ride begins were I left off on Day 38 after my rest day in Pensacola. Nancy drives me back to the same remote point east of Milton after passing Hwy 90 bridge in here SUV.

I meet up with Doug and Steve in Mossy Head Plaza, about 37 miles into my route. I am riding with panniers with a weeks worth of laundry that is now clean from rest day at Nancy’s. Doug claims it is slowing me down, which we appreciates for some reason. I think I might be slow because of a head wind and the tedium of a route that has no scenery. It is a long ride, with few pictures worth sharing, but we did learn at a store stop that there is something called Worm Fiddlin’. Not only that, but there is a festival and competition with it.

  1. I’m glad you got a rest day with your sister and her family. I’m curious to know are you excited/energized to be almost done? Are you depressed or sad because it is almost done? Are you just mechanically going through the motions or are you fully engaged and soaking in all the new sights?

    1. John, it is getting mechanical. It is Monday when I am replying to you, and we are riding through Friday, so it feels like a work week left. I think we will get excited on Thursday and Friday because the completion of a big accomplishment will be realized (hopefully). In my Day 41 post, I will talk about the mundane scenery of the past two and one half days, which is making the riding more of a mental challenge.
