Day 34, Baton Rouge to Bogalusa, Louisiana

I believe this was the easiest effort I ever had on a century ride. Smooth payment, reasonably favorable winds, and only some modest hills the last 25 miles. The weather was also very pleasant. This was definitely less effort than the 80 plus mile rides coming to Baton Rouge. I don’t have many pictures to share because the scenery was so similar all day today. We had a good lunch stop at a Subway for the first time on the trip. There I was able to eat the entire foot-long turkey sandwich. We now are north and slightly east of New Orleans, which is not on our route.

The surprise at the end of the ride is that Doug got us all rooms at Magnolia Garden, which sounds and looks like an assisted living home, because that is what it used to be before someone made it a into 2-room suite inn. Upon arrival we nervously joked that this entire tour was a ruse by one of our family members to get us into the assisted living home.

  1. You three definitely look like residents of Magnolia Garden. You just need wrist band trackers to keep you from wandering off.
