Today’s ride was mostly as expected with some short distances of rough frontage roads to a busy Hwy 190 we also road. We had two major milestones today; we passed 2000 miles in total tour distance and crossed over to the east of Mississippi. What continued our delight was the amazing courtesy and safety of the Louisiana motorist towards us. I would say no motorists passed us or honked belligerently at us. The real heart warming action by a motorist was a driver of a small commercial truck who escorted us across a 2 lane traffic dense bridge across the Mississippi river. I was a the tail end of our group when I notice a truck that would not pass us despite our slow hill climb up the bridge. It took an instant for me to realize that he was escorting us by driving behind at 10 mph or even less as we climbed the steep bridge incline forcing all the other motorist to pass him and us in the left lane. Once we crested and descended the other side on the east side of the river, he gave us a series of friendly honks as we waved in appreciation.
After a fantastic, authentic Redfish and Crawfish Etouffee dinner, we wondered the streets on a perfect Saturday evening. There we met the Pedal Pub, a mobile street bar that is powered by beer patrons who can pedal the entire pub around the city, should they choose. We were thinking this might be another way to get to Saint Augustine Beach, Florida, but our arrival date might be very unpredictable .

awesome pic’s. Keep it up!
Thanks Jim, we just finished day 34 today, and now only have about 8 days of riding left, plus two rest days.
Your team and you are awesome. Thanks for all the pictures and colorful commentary.
Lew, thank you for the accolades and encouragement. The tour is still going well for all of us.
Dave and I had a similar experience crossing the Tappahannock River on the Route 360 bridge. We had a tractor trailer slowly escort us over so we wouldn’t be buzzed by cars. That crossing was a source of trepidation for us but that act of kindness really made our day.
Yes, the help of a stranger was heart felt to all of us.
