My buddy, John Reno, asked me if I will do a blog on my southern tier cross country trip. Truthfully, I already wanted to do so, but had no idea how to go about it. The hosting services websites and consultants who sell stuff, like training and instructional books, say it is easy. Well they are liars. The tools used are the same that the professions use to make corporate websites, with all the associated sophistication and complexities. I say this to ask for your understanding of the deficiencies of this site.
I am targeting this for friends and family, and anyone who is interested in such a trip themselves. There will be some cycling minutia for my cycling savvy friends, like I chose 35 mm tubeless commuter tires for my Lynskey gravel bike for comfort and resilience, and I equipped it with a minimum 33/36 gear ratio for the steepest hills. I welcome questions in the comment field from cyclists and non-cyclists. Please understand my comments may target a diverse audience of cycling knowledgeable people.
I think I will be able to post a few comments with pictures (menu item Southern Tier 2025) at the conclusion of the day, when I am likely tired and maybe distracted with preparations for the next day.
For those of you interested in details of our daily routes, I have a Strava button that links to my activities on Strava’s website. If you want those details and are not currently on Strava, you can sign up for a free account.
Thank you in advance for following us across the southern USA!
