Today we completed 90 miles, our longest ride so far, including about 25 miles of Interstate riding. The hazard was more than being on the shoulder, with nothing to protect us from cars and 18 wheelers, but rumble strips, but wire filaments from steel belts of lost tire retreads. These miniscule wire filaments cost us three more flats today. Despite that, we made the repairs and got in comfortably before dark.
The highlight was the Date Land truck stop with their world famous shakes. The local crop of medjool dates and the fruit of cacti, the prickly pear, was the blended flavor of my extremely delicious large shake. Funny, I could consume the entire 20 oz. and jump on a bike for another 40 miles with no problem.
