This was another easy day, with just 54 miles of riding, so we left at 11:00 AM to avoid arriving in Sanderson before check-in at the Desert Air Motel. Again, clean road surfaces and views of scenic hills. Once we arrived in Sanderson, we ran into a group of eight people also staying at our motel, and on a similar Southern Tier route, but with a guided support outfit named Timberline-Adventures. We appreciate what we are doing even more, when two of the group’s members traveled from the U.K. to do the same tour. Along the way, Steve Leibo had some trouble with his Specialized Diverge that required some adjustments. Similarly, we noticed I had a loose headset and will require a head tube spacer that I failed to bring as an extra ($1 part). Hopefully I can get this at the next bicycle shop in Del Rio on Monday’s rest day.
Another interesting appearance of a store, similar to the Prada earlier, is an art installation that are way out of place on the most rural remote highways. If you don’t appreciate the art, you must at least appreciate the humor.

That elevation profile looks like it would be a great day!
Yes, there were a lot of advantages to make a long ride reasonable. Thanks for your comment.
