D22, Camp Wood, TX to Kerrville, all Texas Hill Country

This was a great day of riding and scenery, despite considerable hills all day, including inclines of up top 12%. Only the last few miles into Kerrville were commercial urban highways, but the majority of the ride was ranch roads, scenic hill top vistas, and beautiful riverfront homes following a very nice small town called Leakey, where we got a great Mexican breakfast taco. Steve Leibo and Doug, who train in Richmond maybe did not enjoy the frequent hills as much as I did, but those climbs reminded me of routes near my home in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I think someone could make a great riding road vacation centered in Texas Hill Country.

We enjoyed a nice porch rest at a store front in the town of Hunt, where I did have ice cream (ice cream not pictured, but I swear I did have some).

The evening at our hotel ended well as we shared it with guests staying for an annual event for owners of vintage British motorcycles: including those by Vincent, Triumph, and others. Many were meticulously restored, and it was wonderful to view these bikes as the sun was setting, but we plan to see them again in the full daylight tomorrow morning.

In two more days we plan to be in Austin, where we will have another rest day and enjoy some local sites of the city. This is approximately our mid-point of the tour, so a very important milestone.
