After a 101 mile ride yesterday, this relatively short and very efficient ride felt great. There were some nice rolling hills and excellent surfaces that we handled very well in a paceline after having a long lunch with Carol and Julie at the Subway (2nd day in row) in Poplarville, MS.
I learned that Jackson, MS suffered some significant flooding yesterday, and we are about 60 miles south. Again, we are very fortunate, despite flooding we continued to miss heavy rain to the north, just like our route south of Dallas last week. You can see my pictures of the Pearl River and the adjacent picture of the flood zone. Today we passed into Mississippi, which is our second last state of the tour! We were on a side road, so we missed the “Welcome to Mississippi” sign, so instead this Mississippi State University sign will have to suffice.
